Complete Environments

Your Backyard Should Feel Like a Destination

Austin homeowners spend more time outdoors than almost anywhere else in the country. But most backyards are still just grass, a concrete slab, and maybe a grill on wheels. An outdoor living space changes that entirely — it gives you a real environment with zones for cooking, dining, lounging, entertaining, and gathering around fire. The best outdoor spaces feel like an extension of your home, not an afterthought behind it.

Red Agave designs and builds complete outdoor living environments from the ground up. We handle everything — concrete and stone flatwork, seating walls, shade structures, fire features, outdoor kitchens, integrated lighting, and the surrounding landscape — all coordinated under one crew. That means materials match, transitions are seamless, and every zone flows into the next. No coordinating five different contractors. No mismatched stone or awkward elevation changes where one contractor’s work meets another’s.

We build for Austin’s climate: shade where you need it, materials that stay cool underfoot, drainage engineered for flash storms, and plantings that thrive in 105°F summers without constant irrigation. Every outdoor living project starts with a site visit and a conversation about how you actually use your backyard — not a catalog of cookie-cutter options. Common Questions

Outdoor Living FAQ

How much does an outdoor living space cost in Austin?
Outdoor living projects range widely based on scope. A focused patio with a fire pit and basic landscaping starts around $25,000. A mid-range project with a covered structure, outdoor kitchen, seating walls, lighting, and landscape runs $50,000 to $100,000. Full-property transformations with pools, pavilions, multiple zones, and premium materials can exceed $150,000. We work with a range of budgets and can phase projects to spread investment over time.
How long does an outdoor living project take to build?
Timeline depends on scope and complexity. A patio and fire pit project takes 2 to 4 weeks. A comprehensive outdoor living space with a covered structure, kitchen, lighting, and landscape typically takes 6 to 12 weeks from groundbreaking to completion. Design and permitting add 2 to 4 weeks before construction begins. We provide a detailed timeline at the start of every project.
Do you handle everything or do I need other contractors?
Red Agave is a full design-build firm. We handle site design, grading, drainage, concrete, stone, steel fabrication, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and planting — all under one crew. The only trades we sub out are gas line connections (licensed plumber) and major electrical panel work (licensed electrician). You deal with one company, one point of contact, and one schedule from start to finish.
Can you phase a large project over time?
Yes, and we recommend it for larger budgets. A phased approach lets you spread the investment while ensuring every phase works as a complete, finished space. We design the full vision upfront so infrastructure (drainage, electrical, gas) is roughed in during Phase 1, even if later phases are months or years away. That avoids tearing up finished work to add utilities later.
