The hardscape was already in place — a mature Tarrytown lot with live oaks, existing flagstone paths, a steel-edged patio, and native planting beds. The problem was that the entire investment vanished after dark. Two low-voltage spotlights on the front oaks was the entire lighting package, and they pointed straight up into the canopy like searchlights.
Red Agave replaced the existing lights with a purpose-built system: 420 linear feet of 24V FCOB (Flexible Chip on Board) continuous ribbon lighting embedded in every steel edge and paver joint, 14 COB (Chip on Board) architectural uplights on specimen trees and stone walls, 4 diffused steel light boxes at seating areas, and pathway bollards along the front walk. Everything runs on 24V low-voltage through weatherproof transformers.
The entire system is controlled by two ESP32 WLED microcontrollers — one for the front yard, one for the back — running open-source WLED firmware. The homeowners control color temperature, brightness, scheduling, and scene selection from their phones. No proprietary app. No subscription. No hub.
