WLED: What It Means
WLED stands for Warm LED — LED fixtures with a color temperature in the warm white range (2700K–3000K). It is not a separate technology from the strips above — it is a designation for the warmth of the light output. Any SMD, COB, or FCOB strip can be WLED if it is manufactured at a warm color temperature.
In landscape lighting, WLED at 2700K is the standard. It produces the warm, amber glow that makes landscapes look inviting at night — the same tone as a candle or incandescent bulb. Avoid anything above 3000K for residential landscape lighting unless you want a cold, commercial feel.

Size the transformer at 80% of rated capacity — a 300-watt transformer should serve no more than 240 watts of fixtures. This provides headroom for future additions and prevents overloading. For larger systems, split across multiple transformers on separate circuits rather than one oversized unit.
Wire sizing and voltage drop
Over long wire runs, voltage drops and fixtures at the end of the run dim noticeably. Use 12-gauge wire for runs up to 100 feet and 10-gauge for runs up to 150 feet. For runs beyond 150 feet, use a hub-and-spoke wiring layout where the transformer feeds a central junction, and individual runs branch out to keep each run under 100 feet.
